Introduction to 3D Game Programming with DirectX 9.0c: A Shader Approach (Wordware Game and Graphics Library)

£19.38

Good introduction book for graphics programming in DirectX - The second version of this book is even better than the original one. It teaches you on how to use vertex shader and pixel shader with detailed examples, which is good as fixed-function method will be dropped in DirectX 10. It also has several chapters to describe the use of X library to animate skinned mesh, shadow map, environment reflection map and displacement map.Only minor complain is that the source codes downloaded from the publisher website can be only opened with Visual Studio 2005 (can even not be opened by Visual Studio 2003), although it should not be a too big problem for experienced C++ coder to rebuild the solution / project.
